MESSENGER ANGEL By: Frances M. McCrory-Meservy Jan 1955 - June 1966

After Daddy died a strange thing started happening to my brothers and me. If we did anything wrong, a man would appear at the foot of our beds in the middle of the night. My reaction was fear and I instantly knew what I had done wrong. I would repent and ask Jesus to help me never do that again. The man would disappear.

He did not have wings and I could not make out his features in the dark. This happened all the way through High School. Needless to say, I was careful about what I did, thought or said.

God really was my Father just as his word said. I couldn't get by with anything.

If I had a problem or heartache, I would climb up in God's lap and tell Him all about it.  I had many a cry in his lap and He comforted me with his peace.

When the man showed up at the foot of John's bed, John would start yelling and by the time Mom would get there, the man was gone. It is sad that John does not remember this part of growing up. He was in a bad accident in 1967 and doesn't remember much about his childhood.

Sam jury-rigged his room in such a way that everyone was afraid to open his door. You might meet a knife or something equally scary if you opened his door. It did not deter his visitor at night though. Eventually Sam came to realize who he was.

When I was 22, I was in my old room nursing my newborn daughter. I looked up and my Messenger was standing there. This time, I could tell he was smiling and this time I knew I had done something right. He vanished and I have never seen him since.

Even though I never saw him again, I am sure he is still near nudging me in the right direction.

Psa 91:11 For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways.
