DATING By: Frances M. McCrory-Meservy 1960/61

When I was about 9 years old, I found a scripture in the Bible and claimed it as my own.

I asked God to "remove falsehood and lies from me; Give me neither poverty nor riches; Feed me with the food allotted to me; Lest I be full and deny You, And say, ‘Who is the LORD?’ Or lest I be poor and steal, And profane the name of my God."

God had and still does honor that prayer. I always get caught if I tell even a little fib and I have never been rich or poor. I don’t expect to be either.

I was what most people call a late bloomer. I really didn't care about dating until I was seventeen. I did date occasionally before that; but only because my friends pressured me into it.

Mostly, I didn't date until mid 11th grade. I even made up a name in 9th grade of a boy who supposedly lived in Louisiana and pretended to have a boyfriend so my friends would leave me alone.

Would you believe a boy by that name (first & last) moved from Louisiana to Buna during eleventh grade. I had to tell my friends the truth and we had a good laugh.  And they say God doesn't have a sense of humor.

Mid Junior year of high school Della Mae talked me into double dating with her. She set me up with Ronnie from Deweyville. Ronnie and I had a lot of fun. He was my first real romance.

Prov 30:7 - 9 Two things I request of You Deprive me not before I die: Remove falsehood and lies far from me; Give me neither poverty nor riches; Feed me with the food allotted to me; Lest I be full and deny You, And say, "Who is the LORD?" Or lest I be poor and steal, And profane the name of my God.
