700 Club Prayer Counselor By: Frances M. McCrory-Meservy August 1981-January 1983

Early in 1981 I found out that there was a Houston branch of the 700 Club Prayer Counseling center. I went down and volunteered. I had to take a prayer-counseling course and they gave me a handbook for quick reference when counseling with people who called in.

I still have my book and it is well worn because I have used it a lot over the years helping whomever needed help.

Since calls came in so frequently, we were only allowed to work for 4 hours per day. After the first day I understood why. Even though you feel good helping people by praying for them, your emotions go on a roller coaster ride because of the many problems and praises. I was emotionally tired after each shift.

Very seldom did we ever hear back from someone after we prayed for him or her. They called back but got a different person who took their praise for answered prayer. The odds of getting the same person you prayed for when they called back was almost unheard of. I only had it happen twice in two years.

Mercy

Misuse of our Gifts

Saving Crops

Freedom through forgiveness

I was only a prayer counselor for about two years but it was one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had.  These are just a few samples that taught me as much as it taught the person who was calling.  Most of the prayers were right out of the counseling handbook.  God was always in it but I'll never forget the ones where Jesus literally spoke through me.  It was awesome.

2 Sam 23:2 "The Spirit of the LORD spoke by me, And His word was on my tongue.

John 14:26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

John 16:1315 "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. "He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. "All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.
