Time trial studies have shown that 4 to 5 (4 oz.) cups (16 -20 oz glass) hot tea (can be iced after heated) per day helps prevent heart disease, stroke, cavities and cancer of the skin, lung, stomach, colon, liver, breast, esophagus, pancreas, small intestine. Tea prevents Cholesterol from oxidizing and clinging to artery walls causing arteries to become stiff and narrow. Do not add milk to hot tea - it kills all the benefits. Sugar, sugar substitute or honey just makes it more palatable. Tea should be in a covered container when refrigerated to preserve its taste. A pitcher of iced tea loses its benefits after 5 days in the refrigerator. Tea must seep in hot water for 3 to 5 minutes to get the benefits. If you seep it longer than that, it starts to get bitter. The longer you seep it the more bitter it will taste.
