picture came
to me in an e-mail titled "Lady Winter" Author unknown (I used it
because the Bible says Lucifer (Satan) was the most beautiful
being God ever created. It also says he can come to us as an
angel of light.)
SATAN’S TOOLS
By: Frances M. McCrory-Meservy
1992
We should never use Satan’s tactics. We
should strive to be like Jesus. Jesus’ tactics are Love (doing
what’s best for the other person), Joy (a constant celebration
bubbling up like a well inside us), Peace (quiet confidence),
Patience (excitedly wait), Kindness (forgiveness), Goodness
(usefulness), Gentleness (protective, do no harm), Faithfulness
(Never give up) and self-control (self-possession, control over
ones own emotions)
Fear
Fear is Satan’s # 1 tool. If he can make us afraid, he can stop
us from doing God’s will. Fear stops us cold in our tracks.
Guilt
Guilt is the 2nd most used tool. Satan takes the law and uses it
to condemn us for things after Jesus forgave us.
When we do anything wrong, all we need to do is ask Jesus to
forgive us and he does. If we ask him to help us never do it
again, he will. God convinces us when we are wrong and then helps
us get it right.
Satan makes us feel guilty. He leaves us with no way out and no
help to correct the problem. Guilt leaves us unproductive and
feeling so bad we can do nothing: which is what Satan
wants. Guilt can manifest itself as depression.
Satan put religion in place to make us feel guilty for things
that are not a sin. Satan adds to God’s word and pulls things out
of context to make us feel guilty.
Unforgiveness
If Satan can make us believe we have a right to be angry, he has
a hold on our lives. Anger is another thing that manifests itself
in the form of depression.
Satan & Demons
We are to drive out demons but Jesus will rebuke Satan for us.
The only way bind is used in the Bible is when it is talking
about binding God’s word to our minds, hearts, etc. And when we
bind ourselves to God. We do the binding and unbinding by the
decisions we make in our lives. We can bind ourselves to God or
bind ourselves to Satan: it’s our decisions that do it.
We are simply to call the demon by his name and order him in
Jesus Name to come out of a person. Remember there are some who
only come out through prayer and fasting.
Rebuke is used in regard to Satan: God alone has that right. We
are to ask Jesus to rebuke him for us. We are considered proud if
we do it ourselves. Pride is our original downfall. We are
allowed to gently rebuke a fellow Christian to restore him.
Demons or Jesus
Paul does not say don’t do it. He says it is a fact that you can
not partake of anything with demons and the Lord Jesus. You can
do one or the other but not both.
The Bible also says if you are worshiping idols, you are
worshiping demons unawares. If our TV, etc. keeps us from a
relationship with Jesus or our fellow man, has it become an idol
to us?
I know some fine folks who put the Sabbath and/or church above
helping someone who is in dire straits right now. It speaks
volumes to the unsaved person when his house is flooding and the
heathen next door will help but the Christian doesn't because he
has to go to church or can't work on the Sabbath.
Are there any idols in our lives? Each individual has to answer
that question for themselves.
Listening and doing
Giving heed to means listening to and doing.
Satan puts ideas in our heads. If we brush them away, they never
became our thoughts. But if we dwell on the thought and do it, we
listened to Satan and did his bidding. Having a thought go
through your head does not make you guilty of anything. Dwelling
on a bad thought will lead to your undoing.
Protection
Our Father and Lord protects us from Satan and his Demons. If we
have his Holy Spirit living in us, Satan and his Demons can not
touch us.
Satan and his demons can scare us and we can hurt ourselves; but
they can not harm us directly. They can put obstacles in our path
and if we are not careful, we will harm ourselves.
Consider the following:
A man goes into a yard to see his neighbor. A dog the size of a
breadbox comes at him baring his teeth and growling. The man
jumps into the back of a truck hitting his shin on the tailgate
on the way into the pickup bed.
The dog did not hurt him. He hurt himself running from the
dog. Fear made him hurt himself.
In hindsight, he knows he could have acted like he was going to
hurt that stupid dog and he would have tucked his tail and run
away to hide. Sometimes we react without thinking.
Only God hears our thoughts
Satan can not hear our thoughts. If we pray out loud, he will
know what we are praying and can try to hinder our prayers. If we
pray silently, only God can hear our prayers. Then, Satan has no
clue.
Types of Demon Possession
Types of Demon Possession: paralytics, exceeding violence, mute,
blind, convulsions, fortune telling, deaf and dumb,
and epileptics, (comes out with prayer and fasting). These are
the only types of demons mentioned in the Bible. They are also
called unclean spirits. There are more because one man had a
legion there were so many.
Observing a person can usually tell you if the demon is
obsession, lust, addiction, etc. When the person is ready to be
delivered, he/she will tell you what their demons are.
Be careful here. God created personalities and some things a
person thinks is wrong is not wrong according to God.
IE:
A high I (influential person) talks to things as well as
people. They can't stand to be alone and are really good at
persuading people. Excellent salesman.
A high D (dominate person) tells people what to do and expects
them to do it. They will get out of their car and direct traffic
if there is a traffic jam. A child with this personality needs a
pet to boss around so his parents won't kill him. This child will
grow up to build businesses and run them but hopefully he will be
wise enough to hire good managers.
A high C (conscience person) wants everything done perfect
(according to his idea of perfect). They can not stand to put a
stamp on an envelope crooked. If they put something in a certain
place, don't move it because it will drive them nuts. I don't
know about you but this is the kind of surgeon I would want.
A high S (stable person) does not like to move. There could have
spider webs between them and their chairs. Sounds like a good
secretary or researcher. This person is very organized because
they want to cut their out of chair work time to a minimum.
Most people have a combination of the above. I am an SI and my
husband is an SC/I have no C and he has no I - both of us have a
low D. Together we make a whole. Opposites attract to complete
each other. He slows my I down and gets me moving. I moderate his
C and get him moving. Most of my life I've worked with people as
a secretary, agent or counselor. Most of Al's life he has
repaired things.
My boss in KS is a gruff sort of man. He has a huge loving heart
but does not know how to be diplomatic. I asked him why he hired
a manager because he was there every day anyway. He said,
"because I don't know how to talk to people and everyone would
move if I were the one to try to address issues." His high D made
him a good business man but he needed an agent to take care of
the details.
In other words, just because you don't like someone does not mean
they are demon possessed.
Signs and Wonders
Demons can perform signs and wonders. We should not pray for a
sign when we pray. We are to learn to walk in the Spirit (find
peace and stay in it) so we will know the answer without a sign.
So you see, just because someone performs miracles, healings,
speaks in tongues, etc. does not mean they are of God. All these
things can be duplicated by Satan. Gifts are not how we know who
does and does not belong to Jesus.
We should test the spirit of a person performing a miracle or
wonder.
Jesus said to be a fruit inspector. IE
Christian - Love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, faithfulness,
kindness, gentleness and self-control
Heathen - adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry,
sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath,
selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders,
drunkenness, revelries, and the like
Be Careful
Be very careful who you say is Demon possessed or has an unclean
spirit.
A Christian can not be possessed by a demon or unclean spirit. He
can be oppressed by them (external) but he can not be possessed
(internal). A Demon can not live in the same house with God's
Spirit. A person is either light or dark; saved or lost; belongs
to God or belongs to Satan. Is a saint or a sinner. There is no
in between.
Do not ever say something is of Satan unless you are absolutely
sure.
The gifts are real. The Bible says so. They have not ceased to
be. They are still active on earth and they are of the Holy
Spirit. God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. He does
not change.
The Pharisees said Jesus cast out demons by Satan and Jesus said
that was blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. There is no forgiveness
for calling something that is of the Holy Spirit satanic. It is
the only unforgivable sin.
Timing is important
We should never cast a demon out of a person unless we are sure
they are ready to accept Jesus and receive the Holy Spirit. If
they are not filled with the Holy Spirit, they will end up worse
than before because the demons will return and bring friends with
them. Demons can not reside in the same house as the Holy
Spirit. Usually when a person asks the Holy Spirit to move into
them, the Demons move out. It happened every time when someone
prayed with me. I did not ask them to pray with me. I waited for
them to ask me. Then I was sure the time was right. Jesus' Spirit
moves people when the time is right.
Fear
2 Tim 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of
fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
Dan 10:19 And he said, "O man greatly beloved, fear not! Peace be
to you; be strong, yes, be strong!" So when he spoke to me I was
strengthened, and said, "Let my lord speak, for you have
strengthened me."
Isa 41:13 For I, the LORD your God, will hold your right hand,
Saying to you, 'Fear not, I will help you.'
Mark 5:36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He
said to the ruler of the synagogue, "Do not be afraid; only
believe."
Luke 12:4-5 "And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of
those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they
can do. "But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who,
after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to
you, fear Him!
Acts 18:9-10 Now the Lord spoke to Paul in the night by a vision,
"Do not be afraid, but speak, and do not keep silent; "for I am
with you, and no one will attack you to hurt you; for I have many
people in this city."
1 Pet 3:14-17 But even if you should suffer for righteousness'
sake, you are blessed. "And do not be afraid of their threats,
nor be troubled." But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and
always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a
reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;
having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers,
those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed. For
it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good
than for doing evil.
Guilt
Mat 12:2-8 And when the Pharisees saw it, they
said to Him, "Look, Your disciples are doing what is not lawful
to do on the Sabbath!" But He said to them, "Have you not read
what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with
him: "how he entered the house of God and ate the showbread which
was not lawful for him to eat, nor for those who were with him,
but only for the priests? "Or have you not read in the law that
on the Sabbath the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath, and
are blameless? "Yet I say to you that in this place there is one
greater than the temple. "But if you had known what this means,
'I desire mercy and not sacrifice,' you would not have condemned
the guiltless. "For the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath."
Rom 3:19-28 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to
those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and
all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the
deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by
the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God
apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and
the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in
Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no
difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of
God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption
that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by
His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness,
because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were
previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His
righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one
who has faith in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded.
By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith. Therefore we
conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of
the law.
2 Cor 3:4-6 And we have such trust through Christ toward God. Not
that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being
from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, who also made us
sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter
but of the Spirit; for the letter (of the law) kills, but the
Spirit gives life.
Mat 6:12-15 And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil
one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory
forever. Amen. "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your
heavenly Father will also forgive you. "But if you do not forgive
men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your
trespasses.
Mat 18:21-22 Then Peter came to Him and said, "Lord, how often
shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven
times?" Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you, up to seven
times, but up to seventy times seven.
Luke 23:34 Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do
not know what they do." And they divided His garments and cast
lots.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to
forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Satan pressures us: God encourages us.
Satan wants to control us: God leaves us our free will and wants
us to love him enough to do his will.
Luke 23:23 But they were insistent, demanding
with loud voices that He be crucified. And the voices of these
men and of the chief priests prevailed.
1 Th 2:6-7 Nor did we seek glory from men, either from you or
from others, when we might have made demands as apostles of
Christ. But we were gentle among you, just as a nursing mother
cherishes her own children.
Ezra 7:27-28 Blessed be the LORD God of our fathers, who has put
such a thing as this in the king's heart, to beautify the house
of the LORD which is in Jerusalem, and has extended mercy to me
before the king and his counselors, and before all the king's
mighty princes. So I was encouraged, as the hand of the LORD my
God was upon me; and I gathered leading men of Israel to go up
with me.
Acts 11:23 When he came and had seen the grace of God, he was
glad, and encouraged them all that with purpose of heart they
should continue with the Lord.
Col 2:1-3 For I want you to know what a great conflict I have for
you and those in Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my
face in the flesh, that their hearts may be encouraged, being
knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full
assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of
God, both of the Father and of Christ, in whom are hidden all the
treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
1 Th 3:1-3 Therefore, when we could no longer endure it, we
thought it good to be left in Athens alone, and sent Timothy, our
brother and minister of God, and our fellow laborer in the gospel
of Christ, to establish you and encourage you concerning your
faith, that no one should be shaken by these afflictions; for you
yourselves know that we are appointed to this.
Lev 1:3 'If his offering is a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let
him offer a male without blemish; he shall offer it of his own
free will at the door of the tabernacle of meeting before the
LORD.
Lev 19:5 'And if you offer a sacrifice of a peace offering to the
LORD, you shall offer it of your own free will.
Lev 22:29 "And when you offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving to the
LORD, offer it of your own free will.
John 14:15-17 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. "And I will
pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may
abide with you forever; "the Spirit of truth, whom the world
cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but
you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
Satan tempts us.
Mat 26:41 "Watch and pray, lest you enter into
temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."
1 Cor 7:5 Do not deprive one another except with consent for a
time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and
come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of
your lack of self-control.
1 Cor 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is
common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be
tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will
also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
Gal 6:1 Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who
are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness,
considering yourself lest you also be tempted.
1 Tim 6:9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation
and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown
men in destruction and perdition.
Heb 2:17-18 Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His
brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in
things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of
the people. For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted,
He is able to aid those who are tempted.
James 1:12-15 Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when
he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the
Lord has promised to those who love Him. Let no one say when he
is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by
evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted
when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when
desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is
full-grown, brings forth death.
2 Pet 2:9-11 then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of
temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the
day of judgment, and especially those who walk according to the
flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are
presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of
dignitaries, whereas angels, who are greater in power and might,
do not bring a reviling accusation against them before the Lord.
We drive demons out
Lev 17:7 "They shall no more offer their
sacrifices to demons, after whom they have played the harlot.
This shall be a statute forever for them throughout their
generations."'
Deu 32:16-21 They provoked Him to jealousy with foreign gods;
With abominations they provoked Him to anger. They sacrificed to
demons, not to God, To gods they did not know, To new gods, new
arrivals That your fathers did not fear. Of the Rock who begot
you, you are unmindful, And have forgotten the God who fathered
you. "And when the LORD saw it, He spurned them, Because of the
provocation of His sons and His daughters. And He said: 'I will
hide My face from them, I will see what their end will be, For
they are a perverse generation, Children in whom is no faith.
They have provoked Me to jealousy by what is not God; They have
moved Me to anger by their foolish idols. But I will provoke them
to jealousy by those who are not a nation; I will move them to
anger by a foolish nation.
Psa 106:35-39 But they mingled with the Gentiles And learned
their works; They served their idols, Which became a snare to
them. They even sacrificed their sons And their daughters to
demons, and shed innocent blood, The blood of their sons and
daughters, Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; And the
land was polluted with blood. Thus they were defiled by their own
works, and played the harlot by their own deeds.
Idols or demons
1 Cor 10:19-31 What am I saying then? That an
idol is anything, or what is offered to idols is anything?
Rather, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice they
sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not want you to have
fellowship with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and
the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord's table and of
the table of demons. Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are
we stronger than He? All things are lawful for me, but not all
things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all
things edify. Let no one seek his own, but each one the other's
well being. Eat whatever is sold in the meat market, asking no
questions for conscience' sake; for "the earth is the Lord's, and
all its fullness." If any of those who do not believe invites you
to dinner, and you desire to go, eat whatever is set before you,
asking no question for conscience' sake. But if anyone says to
you, "This was offered to idols," do not eat it for the sake of
the one who told you, and for conscience' sake; for "the earth is
the Lord's, and all its fullness." "Conscience," I say, not your
own, but that of the other. For why is my liberty judged by
another man's conscience? But if I partake with thanks, why am I
evil spoken of for the food over which I give thanks? Therefore,
whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory
of God.
1 Tim 4:1-5 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times
some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits
and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their
own conscience seared with a hot iron, forbidding to marry, and
commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received
with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. For
every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it
is received with thanksgiving; for it is sanctified by the word
of God and prayer.
Giving heed to means listening to and doing.
James 2:19-24 You believe that there is one God. You do well.
Even the demons believe; and tremble! But do you want to know, O
foolish man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham
our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on
the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his
works, and by works faith was made perfect? And the Scripture was
fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted
to him for righteousness." And he was called the friend of God.
You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith
only.
James 3:13-18 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him
show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of
wisdom. But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your
hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth.
James 3:15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is
earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self-seeking exist,
confusion and every evil thing are there. But the wisdom that is
from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to
yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and
without hypocrisy. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in
peace by those who make peace.
Rev 9:20 But the rest of mankind, who were not killed by these
plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, that they
should not worship demons, and idols of gold, silver, brass,
stone, and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk. And
they did not repent of their murders or their sorceries or their
sexual immorality or their thefts.
Jude 1:9-19 But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing
with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a
slanderous accusation against him, but said, "The Lord rebuke
you!" Yet these men speak abusively against whatever they do not
understand; and what things they do understand by instinct, like
unreasoning animals--these are the very things that destroy them.
Woe to them! They have taken the way of Cain; they have rushed
for profit into Balaam's error; they have been destroyed in
Korah's rebellion. These men are blemishes at your love feasts,
eating with you without the slightest qualm--shepherds who feed
only themselves. They are clouds without rain, blown along by the
wind; autumn trees, without fruit and uprooted--twice dead. They
are wild waves of the sea, foaming up their shame; wandering
stars, for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever.
Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men: "See,
the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones
to judge everyone, and to convict all the ungodly of all the
ungodly acts they have done in the ungodly way, and of all the
harsh words ungodly sinners have spoken against him." These men
are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own evil
desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others for their
own advantage. But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of
our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. They said to you, "In the last
times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly
desires." These are the men who divide you, who follow mere
natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.
Luke 4:2-19 where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He
ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was
hungry. The devil said to him, "If you are the Son of God, tell
this stone to become bread." Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man
does not live on bread alone.'" The devil led him up to a high
place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world.
And he said to him, "I will give you all their authority and
splendor, for it has been given to me, and I can give it to
anyone I want to. So if you worship me, it will all be yours."
Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Worship the Lord your God and
serve him only.'" The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him
stand on the highest point of the temple. "If you are the Son of
God," he said, "throw yourself down from here. For it is written:
"'He will command his angels concerning you to guard you
carefully; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will
not strike your foot against a stone.'" Jesus answered, "It says:
'Do not put the Lord your God to the test.' When the devil had
finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.
Eph 4:26-27 "In your anger do not sin" : Do not let the sun go
down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a
foothold.
James 4:7-8 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil,
and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near
to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you
double-minded.
1 Pet 5:8-10 Be self-controlled and alert. Your
enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for
someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith,
because you know that your brothers throughout the world are
undergoing the same kind of sufferings. And the God of all grace,
who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have
suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you
strong, firm and steadfast.
1 John 3:10-11 This is how we know who the children of God are
and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do
what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not
love his brother. This is the message you heard from the
beginning: We should love one another.
Rev 2:10 Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell
you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and
you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to
the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life.
Rev 12:9-12 The great dragon was hurled down--that ancient
serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world
astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him. Then
I heard a loud voice in heaven say: "Now have come the salvation
and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of
his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them
before our God day and night, has been hurled down. They overcame
him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony;
they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
Therefore rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe
to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you!
He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short."
Mat 5:34-37 But I tell you, Do not swear at all: either by
heaven, for it is God's throne; or by the earth, for it is his
footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King.
And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair
white or black. Simply let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,'
'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.
Mat 6:13-14 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.' For if you forgive men when
they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
John 17:15-18 My prayer is not that you take them out of the
world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not
of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth;
your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent
them into the world.
Eph 6:16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith,
with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil
one.
2 Th 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and
guard you from the evil one.
Prov 30:5-6 Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those
who put their trust in Him. Do not add to His words, Lest He
rebuke you, and you be found a liar.
Zec 3:2 And the LORD said to Satan, "The LORD rebuke you, Satan!
The LORD who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand
plucked from the fire?"
1 John 5:18-20 We know that whoever is born of God does not sin;
but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one
does not touch him. We know that we are of God, and the whole
world lies under the sway of the wicked one. And we know that the
Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we
may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His
Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
Protection from Satan & His demons
1 John 5:18-20 We know that whoever is born of
God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself,
and the wicked one does not touch him. We know that we are of
God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.
And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an
understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in
Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God
and eternal life.
Only God hears our thoughts
Mat 12:25 But Jesus knew their thoughts, and
said to them: "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to
desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will
not stand.
Luke 6:8 But He knew their thoughts, and said to the man who had
the withered hand, "Arise and stand here." And he arose and
stood.
Luke 6:9 Then Jesus said to them, "I will ask you one thing: Is
it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life
or to destroy?"
Mat 6:6-7 "But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when
you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret
place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
"And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen
do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.
1 Cor 14:13-17 Therefore let him who speaks in a tongue pray that
he may interpret. For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but
my understanding is unfruitful. What is the conclusion then? I
will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the
understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing
with the understanding. Otherwise, if you bless with the spirit,
how will he who occupies the place of the uninformed say "Amen"
at your giving of thanks, since he does not understand what you
say. For you indeed give thanks well, but the other is not
edified.
Types of demon possession
Mat 4:24 Then His fame went throughout all
Syria; and they brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted
with various diseases and torments, and those who were
demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them.
Mat 8:28 When He had come to the other side, to the country of
the Gergesenes, there met Him two demon-possessed men, coming out
of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that no one could pass that
way.
Mat 9:32-33 As they went out, behold, they brought to Him a man,
mute and demon-possessed. And when the demon was cast out, the
mute spoke. And the multitudes marveled, saying, "It was never
seen like this in Israel!"
Mat 12:22 Then one was brought to Him who was demon-possessed,
blind and mute; and He healed him, so that the blind and mute man
both spoke and saw.
Mark 1:26 And when the unclean spirit had convulsed him and cried
out with a loud voice, he came out of him.
Mark 5:15 Then they came to Jesus, and saw the one who had been
demon-possessed and had the legion, sitting and clothed and in
his right mind. And they were afraid.
Luke 4:36 Then they were all amazed and spoke among themselves,
saying, "What a word this is! For with authority and power He
commands the unclean spirits, and they come out."
Acts 8:7 For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out
of many who were possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame
were healed.
Acts 16:16 Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain
slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who
brought her masters much profit by fortune-telling.
Mark 9:20-29 Then they brought him to Him. And when he saw Him,
immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground
and wallowed, foaming at the mouth. So He asked his father, "How
long has this been happening to him?" And he said, "From
childhood. "And often he has thrown him both into the fire and
into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have
compassion on us and help us." Jesus said to him, "If you can
believe, all things are possible to him who believes."
Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with
tears, "Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!" When Jesus saw that
the people came running together, He rebuked the unclean spirit,
saying to it, "Deaf and dumb spirit, I command you, come out of
him and enter him no more!" Then the spirit cried out, convulsed
him greatly, and came out of him. And he became as one dead, so
that many said, "He is dead." But Jesus took him by the hand and
lifted him up, and he arose. And when He had come into the house,
His disciples asked Him privately, "Why could we not cast it
out?" So He said to them, "This kind can come out by nothing but
prayer and fasting."
Rom 14:14 I know and am convinced by the Lord Jesus that there is
nothing unclean of itself; but to him who considers anything to
be unclean, to him it is unclean.
2 Cor 6:14-18 Do not be unequally yoked together with
unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with
lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what
accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with
an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with
idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said:
"I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God,
And they shall be My people." Therefore "Come out from among them
And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And
I will receive you." "I will be a Father to you, And you shall be
My sons and daughters, Says the LORD Almighty."
Demons perform signs and wonders
Rev 16:13-14 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming
out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast,
and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are spirits
of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the
earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of
that great day of God Almighty.
Mat 24:24 "For false christs and false prophets will rise and
show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the
elect.
Mat 12:38-39 Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered,
saying, "Teacher, we want to see a sign from You." But He
answered and said to them, "An evil and adulterous generation
seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the
sign of the prophet Jonah.
1 Cor 1:22-25 For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after
wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling
block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called,
both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of
God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the
weakness of God is stronger than men.
1 John 4:1-3 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the
spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets
have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God:
Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the
flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that
Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the
spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is
now already in the world.
Be very careful who you say is Demon
possessed
Mark 3:28-30 "Assuredly, I say to you, all sins
will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they
may utter; "but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never
has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation"; because
they said, "He has an unclean spirit."
1 John 5:18 We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but
he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one
does not touch him.
Mat 10:24-28 "A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant
above his master. "It is enough for a disciple that he be like
his teacher, and a servant like his master. If they have called
the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more will they call
those of his household! "Therefore do not fear them. For there is
nothing covered that will not be revealed, and hidden that will
not be known. "Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the
light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops.
"And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the
soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and
body in hell.
Mat 12:26-37 "If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against
himself. How then will his kingdom stand? "And if I cast out
demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out?
Therefore they shall be your judges. "But if I cast out demons by
the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.
"Or how can one enter a strong man's house and plunder his goods,
unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder
his house. "He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does
not gather with Me scatters abroad. "Therefore I say to you,
every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy
against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. "Anyone who speaks a
word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever
speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him,
either in this age or in the age to come. "Either make the tree
good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit
bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. "Brood of vipers! How can
you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of
the heart the mouth speaks. "A good man out of the good treasure
of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the
evil treasure brings forth evil things. "But I say to you that
for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it
in the day of judgment. "For by your words you will be justified,
and by your words you will be condemned."
Timing is important
Mat 12:43-45 "When an unclean spirit goes out
of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds
none. "Then he says, 'I will return to my house from which I
came.' And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in
order. "Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more
wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last
state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be
with this wicked generation."
Fruit Inspectors
Mat 7:17-23 "Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad
tree bears bad fruit. "A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can
a bad tree bear good fruit. "Every tree that does not bear good
fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. "Therefore by their
fruits you will know them. "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord,
Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the
will of My Father in heaven "Many will say to Me in that day,
'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons
in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' "And then I
will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who
practice lawlessness!'
Luke 6:43-49 "For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a
bad tree bear good fruit. "For every tree is known by its own
fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather
grapes from a bramble bush. "A good man out of the good treasure
of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil
treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance
of the heart his mouth speaks. "But why do you call Me 'Lord,
Lord,' and do not do the things which I say? "Whoever comes to
Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he
is like: "He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and
laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the
stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake
it, for it was founded on the rock. "But he who heard and did
nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a
foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and
immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great."
Gal 5:19-25 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are:
adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery,
hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish
ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness,
revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as
I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things
will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit
is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no
law. And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its
passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk
in the Spirit.
Eph 5:1-14 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And
walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for
us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling
aroma. But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let
it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; neither
filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are
not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. For this you know, that
no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an
idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these
things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.
Therefore do not be partakers with them. For you were once
darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of
light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness,
righteousness, and truth), finding out what is acceptable to the
Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of
darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to
speak of those things which are done by them in secret. But all
things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for
whatever makes manifest is light. Therefore He says: "Awake, you
who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light."
