Silence Is Not Golden by Frances McCrory Meservy July 24, 2007

Back when abortion was being debated (before Roe V Wade), I did not know what the Bible said about abortion but I knew I could never do it because to me it would be murder.  I did not say anything.  I just listen to women talk.

God showed me that by not saying anything I was agreeing with the women.  Next time the subject came up, I voiced my opinion as stated above.

Since then I have found that in every case that I knew of when a person did not speak up, it was assumed that they agreed.

The last 8 years I was employed was managing a community of 200 families.  I was in a position to pay attention to common beliefs, actions and reactions.  I learned a lot about human nature.

After God showed me that silence was agreement or consent, I have been very careful to be verbal is I do not agree with someone.  I will not get into a meaningless argument; but I will gently give my opinion.  At the very least  I will say, "I don't know but I will research it."

Roe V Wade became law because the silent majority thought "Silence was Golden."  No one could imagine killing unborn babies would become legal.

Yes we are in a spiritual battle but it will not be won with silence.  Satan can not hear our thoughts.  Jesus quoted scripture to fight him.  He was not silent.  Jesus is our example.  We should learn to use God's word to fight our spiritual battles.

So you see, "Silence is not Golden."

Scripture about speaking up

2 Chr 19:10 "Whatever case comes to you from your brethren who dwell in their cities, whether of bloodshed or offenses against law or commandment, against statutes or ordinances, you shall warn them, lest they trespass against the LORD and wrath come upon you and your brethren. Do this, and you will not be guilty.

Ezek 3:18-21 "When I say to the wicked, 'You shall surely die,' and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand. "Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul. "Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die; because you did not give him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; but his blood I will require at your hand. "Nevertheless if you warn the righteous man that the righteous should not sin, and he does not sin, he shall surely live because he took warning; also you will have delivered your soul."

Scripture against abortion

Deu 18:10-12 "There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, "or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. "For all who do these things are an abomination to the LORD, and because of these abominations the LORD your God drives them out from before you.

Ezek 16:20-23 "Moreover you took your sons and your daughters, whom you bore to Me, and these you sacrificed to them to be devoured. Were your acts of harlotry a small matter, "that you have slain My children and offered them up to them by causing them to pass through the fire? "And in all your abominations and acts of harlotry you did not remember the days of your youth, when you were naked and bare, struggling in your blood. "Then it was so, after all your wickedness; 'Woe, woe to you!' says the Lord GOD;
