BAPTIZED By: Frances M. McCrory-Meservy 1953
About a year before Dad died, we started attending 1st Baptist (SBC) downtown. It was a white building with a steeple located on the corner from our school. It had indoor plumbing and electricity. The people were friendly and nice. The church was more structured and we (kids) could not lead the singing any more. That was ok. I liked it.
I was very shy around new people; but I slowly made new friends.
One day after my 10th birthday the pastor gave the invitation and God said, "Don't you think its time you were baptized?" I went forward and requested baptism.
I was baptized the next Sunday.
I joined a Sunday-school class, the Girls Auxiliary (a missionary arm of the church) and we went to church every time the doors were open. I loved it.
We (kids) went to camp each summer and had lots of fun. I learned more about my heavenly Father and depended on him more and more.
Mat 3:13-15 Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. And John tried to prevent Him, saying, "I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?" But Jesus answered and said to him, "Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness." Then he allowed Him.
Mark 16:16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
