HOSPITALITY By: Frances M. McCrory-Meservy March 1963

On any holiday that students who were from out of state could not make it home, my Mom would take them home with us. They loved it out in the country where I grew up and they loved my family.

Easter weekend, 1963 Mom took Dave from Indiana, John from Ohio and Alberto from Guatemala home with us. I was dating Alberto at the time.

They decided to practice shooting tin cans off the fence about 100 yards away. I told them that was too easy and put a kitchen match in a crack on top of one of the posts. I intended to shoot the match but accidentally lit it instead.

Dave and John told Alberto that it would not be wise to make me angry. We all laughed.

1 Pet 4:8-10 And above all things have fervent love for one another, for "love will cover a multitude of sins." Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

Luke 16:9 I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.

Titus 1:8 Rather he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined.

Rom 12:13 Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

1 Tim 5:9-10 No widow may be put on the list of widows unless she is over sixty, has been faithful to her husband, and is well known for her good deeds, such as bringing up children, showing hospitality, washing the feet of the saints, helping those in trouble and devoting herself to all kinds of good deeds.

Pictures taken by John from Ohio of me and some of her college friends, Mom took the one of me & my roommate at the YWCA and me & Al Meservy (from 1962-1965)
