Nothing’s Free
By: Frances M. McCrory-Meservy May 1963I decided to get a regular job and go to night school to finish my education. I got a job at Coleman Oldsmobile Cadillac as a receptionist/bookkeeper helper and moved in with an older woman to save money.
She said she just wanted a companion (she was lonely) and I could live there rent-free. Sounded good to me.
I had only been there a couple of weeks when I realized it would not work. She was a strange lady.
I shared my belief in Jesus with her and she decided I could not be for real. She started accusing me of all kinds of things. I found an apartment I could afford and moved out.
I found out later that she was a Madam and had a huge prostitution ring in the area. She did not want to stand in the light. I planted seeds while I was there and can only hope they took.John 3:19-21 "And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. "For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. "But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God."
2 Cor 9:10-1 Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness, while you are enriched in everything for all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God.
