Cults & The Bible By: Frances M. McCrory-Meservy
Most cults have a prophetic revelation or book that supersedes the Bible in authority. Many of these revelations and parts of the books contradict the Bible: Since Jesus (God) is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow, all things of God must agree.
Prophets must be without error to be of God.
Cults teach "The Bible is God's word in so far as it is translated correctly." Of course everything that disagrees with them is translated incorrectly; yet God has promised us that his word will not pass away.
The only translation of the Bible cults will accept is the King James translation. At the same time if it disagrees with their church's doctrine, they insist it is mistranslated.
The Bible is not mistranslated. Words in King James English mean something else in American English. A good concordance with a Greek & Hebrew dictionary in the back will eliminate all doubt. You will find there are very few words with different meanings and they are insignificant - they do not change the meaning of the context. When read in context, you will find the grass is the people and the word is Jesus.
Please never take anyone's word on what the Bible says. Read it for yourself. Even we Christians make mistakes.

Cults pull scripture out of context to prove their point. Make sure you read before and after the scripture they give you in order to know the true meaning. Example: I could use 1 Peter 1:23 and Isaiah 40:8 to prove God's word is everlasting; but I would be pulling it out of context.
Let's help keep each other straight out of love. We are supposed to edify each other - Edify means to confirm, instruct or improve.
Mat 5:18 I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
Heb 13:8-9 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Do not be carried about with various and strange doctrines. For it is good that the heart be established by grace, not with foods which have not profited those who have been occupied with them.
Jer 14:14-16 And the LORD said to me, "The prophets prophesy lies in My name. I have not sent them, commanded them, nor spoken to them; they prophesy to you a false vision, divination, a worthless thing, and the deceit of their heart. "Therefore thus says the LORD concerning the prophets who prophesy in My name, whom I did not send, and who say, 'Sword and famine shall not be in this land'; 'By sword and famine those prophets shall be consumed! 'And the people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword; they will have no one to bury them; them nor their wives, their sons nor their daughters; for I will pour their wickedness on them.'
Deu 18:20-22 'But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in My name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.' "And if you say in your heart, 'How shall we know the word which the LORD has not spoken?'; "when a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him.
Gal 1:6-10 I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.
Isa 40:8 The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever."
Isa 40:6-7 The voice said, "Cry out!" And he said, "What shall I cry?" "All flesh is grass, And all its loveliness is like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades, Because the breath of the LORD blows upon it; Surely the people are grass.
Rom 14:19 Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another.
1 Th 5:11 Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.
