Al’s Wish List 1984 by Frances M. McCrory-Meservy
Al is an Avionics Electronics Technician. Avionics is what the Aircraft equipment found in the cockpit that is used for navigation. They consist of radios, altimeters, radar etc. Al’s specialty was radar and he had an international reputation of being the best in the business. As a result he had a faithful following.
Lee needed an Avionics Manager/technician and called Al to see if he would at least come and talk to him about the job. Al decided to check it out and see if he would like to do it. We drove up to Northwest Houston and Al went in and talked to Lee. Lee showed him the shop and equipment.
Al decided he did not want to make that move.
Lee kept calling him and trying to persuade him to take the position. Al finally wrote down what he considered ridiculous requests and said if Lee called again to read them to him and he’ll leave me alone.
There were other things on the list but we can’t remember what they were. Lee called and asked what it would take to get Al on board. I picked up the list and read it to him. He said, "Done – have Al call me when he gets home.
God had again opened a door that no man could shut.
We moved across town (over 50 miles) and Al went to work at West Houston Aeromotive.
Rev 3:7-8 "… He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens":
1 Pet 2:11-16 Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation. Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake, whether to the king as supreme, or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men; as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God.
