Fay/It’s a Small World
by Frances M. Meservy October 1981I met Fay the first day I went to Sunday School at 1st Baptist Church Manville. She and I just clicked from the get go.
She called every morning while I was cleaning the pool and decided she would never own a pool. It was a labor of love for me. I knew where my children were and I loved the private time that was just for Al & I. At 5:30 every afternoon all the teens in the pool would leave; our children would go in the house and Al and I would have the pool to ourselves for 30 minutes. We on occasion went swimming after our children went to bed. It became our romantic escape.
Fay and I did almost everything together. Most people thought we were sisters. And, in fact, we are sisters in Christ.
The first time Fay came over to visit we sat out by the pool in the sunshine and watched her 2 year old play in the pool.
Fay told me about a Newspaper owner in Dunnellon FL who got saved. It took her about an hour to tell the story of how the man met Jesus. After she finished, I said, "Wow - it is wonderful that Uncle Russell got saved."
Fay totally freaked out. She could not believe she had told me about Al’s uncle who owned the Newspaper in Dunnellon FL. Most people have never heard of Dunnellon or knew anyone there must less know where it is located.
Al had been praying that all his family would trust Jesus before they died. God had let him know that He was answering that prayer.
I finally got Fay to understand that it was good that she told me the story.
Fay and I had so many testimonies to tell each other about what Jesus had done over the period of our lives that we accidentally led people to Jesus in McDonald's and other places. We were always amazed at how He used us.
Fay lives in Arkansas but we still see each other when we can and talk on the phone often. And of course – we now have e-mail.
Post Script: Fay left this earth and is in her new home in Heaven. Jan 26, 1943-Jan 6, 2012
Acts 16:31 So they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household."
Rom 16:1-2 I commend to you Phoebe our sister, who is a servant of the church in Cenchrea, that you may receive her in the Lord in a manner worthy of the saints, and assist her in whatever business she has need of you; for indeed she has been a helper of many and of myself also.
