Portrait of Stephanie, David and grandmother (Al's Mom) May 1986
Satan meant it for bad/God turned it to Good by Frances M. McCrory-Meservy May 1981
For over 10 years I had pain in my abdomen. Every time I went to a doctor they would say I had an ovary infection and put me on an antibiotic.
The pain never went away and over the years just got worse. I had never been fat and would ask people and my doctor, "My fat hurts; does your fat hurt?" I looked like I was pregnant even though I was not but I had only gained 5 lbs.
I woke up one morning and felt the urge to push. I went to a doctor and he said I had an ovary infection. This was the 10 doctor in as many years and I got angry. I said I wanted a hysterectomy because I could no longer stand the pain. He suggested a surgeon.
When I got to work, I asked the avionics secretary if she knew a gynecologist and she said no but the service secretary did. I went and talked to Roxanne. She said I should see Dr. Rizzolo.
I called his office and they worked me in that day. Five minutes into the exam he said I had 9 fibroid tumors and I needed emergency surgery. He scheduled surgery for the next morning.
After I had the surgery, Dr. Rizzolo said the tumors were so big that they were getting all my nutrition. I was malnutrition and anemic. He said had I waited two more weeks, I would have been dead. He put me on heavy vitamins to get me built back up. The malnutrition and anemia had caused peripheral Neuropathy (damage to the small nerve ends) in my hands and feet.
Previous to my having surgery, Al’s Mom had made a deal with us that she could live with us and we would financially support her. In exchange she would watch our children, cook, do laundry and light house keeping while we were at work. She arrived one week after I had surgery.
I had never worked during the summer while my children were out of school before. I was up for a good promotion at Beech and thought the arrangement with Al’s Mom would make that possible.
Al’s Mom had only been there a few of weeks when I realized it would not work. It was about 100 degrees outside and she wanted to lock the kids out because she wanted to be alone. There had been other problems but this one was the last stray.
We decided to give her my Olds 88 because she had no transportation. We packed everything she owned in the car and gave her the keys. She went back to FL. We sent the transfer of the car papers to her after she was home. She found a job and I went back to work long enough to give two weeks notice.
How did God turn bad (tumors) to good? Had I not had the surgery I would not have known how my Mother-in-law was treating our children.
Not only would she have locked them out of the house but she also was bearing false witness against them (telling lies about them) to get them in trouble. I would not have known that if I were not home to see it for myself.
They had never done anything to her except adore her. I talked to Al in private before he said anything to our children. We had our private signals. They never knew their grandmother tried to get them in trouble.
I’ve never been able to understand why an adult would lie about a child to get them in trouble. Believe me when I say don’t just take an adult’s word above your children’s word. Though most adults are trustworthy, there are some who for no reason lie to get children in trouble. Find proof when there is an allegation.
Remember your children are citizens of the USA and have the constitutional right to be considered innocent until proven guilty. Learn to be a good detective. Punishment does not have to be swift. It does however need to be just. Punishing someone for something they did not do will cause bitterness. They will hate the person who is not telling the truth and be devastated if you believe the lie. Nothing could harm your relationship with your children more. Pay attention to your child.
God is so good. He helped us realize I should be home until they were grown. Even though they were teens, they still needed protection and guidance. God did not want us to know evil (tree of the knowledge of good and evil) and we did not want our children to know evil.
Prov 23:24-2 The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice, And he who begets a wise child will delight in him. Let your father and your mother be glad, And let her who bore you rejoice.
3 John 1:4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
Prov 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.
Exo 30:14 "Everyone included among those who are numbered, from twenty years old and above, shall give an offering to the LORD.
Num 1:3 "from twenty years old and above; all who are able to go to war in Israel. You and Aaron shall number them by their armies.
Num 14:29-33 'The carcasses of you who have complained against Me shall fall in this wilderness, all of you who were numbered, according to your entire number, from twenty years old and above.
1 Chr 27:23 But David did not take the number of those twenty years old and under, because the LORD had said He would multiply Israel like the stars of the heavens.
Ezra 3:8 Now in the second month of the second year of their coming to the house of God at Jerusalem, Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and the rest of their brethren the priests and the Levites, and all those who had come out of the captivity to Jerusalem, began work and appointed the Levites from twenty years old and above to oversee the work of the house of the LORD.
Lev 19:18 'You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD.
Num 26:2 "Take a census of all the congregation of the children of Israel from twenty years old and above, by their fathers' houses, all who are able to go to war in Israel."
Deu 1:36-40 'except Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him and his children I am giving the land on which he walked, because he wholly followed the LORD.' "The LORD was also angry with me for your sakes, saying, 'Even you shall not go in there; 'Joshua the son of Nun, who stands before you, he shall go in there. Encourage him, for he shall cause Israel to inherit it. 'Moreover your little ones and your children, who you say will be victims, who today have no knowledge of good and evil, they shall go in there; to them I will give it, and they shall possess it. 'But as for you, turn and take your journey into the wilderness by the Way of the Red Sea.'
Deu 4:9-10 "Only take heed to yourself, and diligently keep yourself, lest you forget the things your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. And teach them to your children and your grandchildren, "especially concerning the day you stood before the LORD your God in Horeb, when the LORD said to me, 'Gather the people to Me, and I will let them hear My words, that they may learn to fear Me all the days they live on the earth, and that they may teach their children.'
Deu 4:40 "You shall therefore keep His statutes and His commandments which I command you today, that it may go well with you and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which the LORD your God is giving you for all time."
Deu 5:8-10 'You shall not make for yourself a carved image; any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
Deu 5:29 'Oh, that they had such a heart in them that they would fear Me and always keep all My commandments, that it might be well with them and with their children forever!
Deu 6:6-9 "And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. "You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. "You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. "You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
Deu 11:19-23 "You shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. "And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, "that your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land of which the LORD swore to your fathers to give them, like the days of the heavens above the earth. "For if you carefully keep all these commandments which I command you to do; to love the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways, and to hold fast to Him "then the LORD will drive out all these nations from before you, and you will dispossess greater and mightier nations than yourselves.
Deu 12:28 "Observe and obey all these words which I command you, that it may go well with you and your children after you forever, when you do what is good and right in the sight of the LORD your God.
Deu 24:16 "Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor shall the children be put to death for their fathers; a person shall be put to death for his own sin.
Mat 18:1-7 At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, "Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, "Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. "Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. "Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me. "But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. "Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!
Mat 19:13-15 Then little children were brought to Him that He might put His hands on them and pray, but the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven." And He laid His hands on them and departed from there.
Mark 7:27 But Jesus said to her, "Let the children be filled first, for it is not good to take the children's bread and throw it to the little dogs."
1 Cor 7:14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband; otherwise your children would be unclean, but now they are holy.
2 Cor 12:14 Now for the third time I am ready to come to you. And I will not be burdensome to you; for I do not seek yours, but you. For the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.
Eph 6:1-4 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. "Honor your father and mother," which is the first commandment with promise: "that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth." And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.
Col 3:20-21 Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord. Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.
Titus 2:3-4 the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,
Prov 20:11 Even a child is known by his deeds, Whether what he does is pure and right.
Prov 23:13-14 Do not withhold correction from a child, For if you beat him with a rod, he will not die. You shall beat him with a rod, And deliver his soul from hell.
Prov 29:15 The rod and rebuke give wisdom, But a child left to himself brings shame to his mother.
Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
