"Islands In The Stream" by Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton
Forty By: Frances McCrory Meservy October 1983
They say life begins at forty
But I’m sure it won’t be a party.
Less than eight hours to go
And I’ll be sure to let you know.
My children are almost grown
In their hearts God's seed is sown.
Apron strings are being loosed
But my heart feels noosed.
Must I feel positive
At a time when all seems derogative?
Yes, time goes on and I’ll continue to grow
As I learn and reap and sow.
In a short time I’ll return to the beginning:
Just husband, love and singing.
Will I know how to act, just he and I?
Will we love until we die?
