Our Daughter's home after the Tornado - May 1999 taken by Fran Meservy

God's Warning by Frances M. McCrory-Meservy

I was so tired that I could hardly keep my eyes open but had a gut feeling I should get up and look out the front door.  Hard as I tried I could not shake the feeling.  When I went to the door and looked out there was a solid wall of black to the south.  It did not look like a cloud or a tornado - it was just horrendously black.

I had a strong urge to call my daughter and tell her she should get her family to our house.  They did not have a storm shelter and I often called to see if they would like to come over when the weather looked bad.  Usually it was a polite question.  Some times Darryl did not come.  Stephie and their children always came.

This was different - there was an urgency that I could not explain.  I picked up the phone and call her.  I said, "Put your husband and children in the car and get here now.  If Darryl does not want to come, knock him out and put him in the van now.  Leave your house now."

Stephanie told Darryl what I said and they all got in the van and came to our house.  The tornado hit their house 8 minutes after they left.

Thank God they listened to the urgency that God conveyed through me.  They would have all been in the living room when it hit.  The tornado sirens did not go off until after the tornado hit.

After I hung up from talking to Stephie, I called several tenants and asked them to help people who needed help get into the storm shelter.  I called people and they contacted their neighbors.  Almost everyone was in the shelter before the sirens when off.

Our area was spared.    Less than a mile away horrific damage was done.  The tornado touched down in Haysville at the beginning of Seneca St and stayed on the ground all the way into Wichita and turned east on the bypass and then north when it got to McConnell Air Force Base.  It then moved up I 35 and did not lift off the ground until it had left Wichita.

Our daughter and son-in-law stayed in our camper across the street from our house next to the office.  My boss let them hook up to his water, sewer and electric.  Our three grandchildren stayed with us. It took about three months for them to find another home because so many people were homeless that there was no place to go.  Darryl's job was hit so he also had to find a job.  They ended up in Kingman (about 40 miles away) for a while and then back to TX where there was work.

Psa 55:8 I would hasten my escape From the windy storm and tempest."

Psa 107:30-31 Then they are glad because they are quiet; So He guides them to their desired haven.  Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men!

Isa 25:4 For You have been a strength to the poor, A strength to the needy in his distress, A refuge from the storm,
