LEAVES IN THE POOL
By Frances M McCrory-Meservy 1992 My first lesson as manager came as I was vacuuming leaves out of the pool. God always shows me things in the strangest ways. In this case, he used leaves.I was a little late cleaning the pool and naturally in a hurry. The leaves kept running away and I had to wait for them to settle to continue. At this rate, it would take twice as long to clean the pool. The answer, of course, was to slow down and sneak up on the leaves. When I did this, they were easy to vacuum up.
God impressed on me that people are like leaves. They run away if you get in a hurry. The answer is to take it easy and make friends. After they get to know me, they will trust me and listen to me. Friendship evangelism works.
I did as my Lord said and developed friends. After a relationship was established, I talked to them about Jesus. Some accepted him and others didn't; but they were left to think about what I said and someday maybe. I was able to witness to folks who normally were offended by anything Religious. They politely listen and don’t get upset with me.
(Luke 21:19 NKJV) "By your patience possess your souls.”
(2 Tim 2:24-26 NKJV) And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.
