Rebuking Satan
by Frances M. McCrory MeservyFor over 40 years I heard people binding and rebuking Satan. I had a gut feeling that was wrong. I did not have a problem with rebuking Demons and casting them out (Jesus did that and told us to do it also); but the other did not sit well. I prayed and asked Jesus to show me the truth. He answered my prayer through scripture and gave me an effective way to fight Satan. Put the enclosed card in your wallet and use it. Satan also wants to keep us in bondage. He uses fear and Guilt to do that.
1. Jesus throughout the New Testament used scripture to fight Satan:
Mat 4:3-11 The tempter came to him and said, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread." Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'" Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple "If you are the Son of God," he said, "throw yourself down. For it is written: "'He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.' Jesus answered him, "It is also written: 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'" Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. "All this I will give you," he said, "if you will bow down and worship me." Jesus said to him, "Away from me, Satan! For it is written: 'Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.'" Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.
2. We are not to rebuke Satan:
Jude 1:9-13 But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!" Yet these men speak abusively against whatever they do not understand; and what things they do understand by instinct, like unreasoning animals--these are the very things that destroy them. Woe to them! They have taken the way of Cain; they have rushed for profit into Balaam's error; they have been destroyed in Korah's rebellion. These men are blemishes at your love feasts, eating with you without the slightest qualm--shepherds who feed only themselves. They are clouds without rain, blown along by the wind; autumn trees, without fruit and uprooted--twice dead. They are wild waves of the sea, foaming up their shame; wandering stars, for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever.
3. Satan can not hear our thoughts. He can only see what is written or hear what we say out loud. Satan not being able to hear our thoughts is why Jesus said to pray in private.
Mat 9:4-8 Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, "Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts? Which is easier: to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up and walk'? But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins. . . ." Then he said to the paralytic, "Get up, take your mat and go home." And the man got up and went home. When the crowd saw this, they were filled with awe; and they praised God, who had given such authority to men.
Mat 6:6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
4. Then he gave me the following scripture that makes up the enclosed card. Speak the scripture out loud so Satan can hear you.
1 John 4:4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
Rom 5:20 Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more,
5. Fear is Satan's greatest weapon. According to the Bible Christians are the most powerful people on earth. Why are we afraid? Fear keeps us from doing what God wants us to do.
Rom 8:15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father."
2 Tim 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
1 John 5:18 We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him.
6. Guilt is another of Satan's weapons. If God does not condemn us, why do we feel guilty? Guilt takes away the confidence we need for answered prayer and to fight Satan. Since Jesus saved us from our sins, we are not guilty. Christians are not sinless; but we are sin free. We have sinned; but God forgave us and continues to do so. His blood makes us sin free. We are saints not sinners.
John 3:16-18 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 3:20-21 For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God.
1 John 5:14-15 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
7. If we bear fruit of the Spirit, we are Christians and God answers our prayers.
2 Tim 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Gal 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
John 15:16 "You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.
I sincerely hope this enriches your life and helps remove the chains of oppression that Satan would like to use to control us.
save the above to your computer and then resize it so it will be business card size. Print it out, tape the two sides back to back and keep it in your wallet. This is what the Holy Spirit showed me to do.
