The Only Unforgivable Sin by: Frances M McCrory-Meservy
I do not understand why this is not taught in church because it is vitally important.
The only unforgivable sin is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. A person blasphemes the Holy Spirit if they say someone is of Satan when the Holy Spirit resides in him/her.
A person only becomes a Christian if the Holy Spirit resides in them. Therefore saying someone is not a Christian because they do not agree with you is getting really close to the line of no return.
I know a lot of born again Christians who make mistakes or have wrong beliefs in certain areas. Just because you think they are wrong, does not mean they are not Christians.
Scripture says our tongues are the most evil member or our bodies. It also says that the only thing on fire in hell is a person's tongue. With our tongue we bless each other and with our tongue we curse people. It's the same tongue. We cannot control our tongues, but God can control it for us. We just have to allow Him to do it.
Our tongues cause bad feelings and problems that cannot be rectified. That's why I tell everyone that, "Since God is love, he is more interested in relationships than anything else." With love you do no harm. Words can be very harmful. Be careful what you say.
Mat 12:24, 27-28, 31-32 Now when the Pharisees heard it they said, "This fellow does not cast out demons except by Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons." "And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges. "But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you. "Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. "Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.
Mark 7:18-23 So He said to them, "Are you thus without understanding also? Do you not perceive that whatever enters a man from outside cannot defile him, "because it does not enter his heart but his stomach, and is eliminated, thus purifying all foods?" And He said, "What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. "For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, "thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. "All these evil things come from within and defile a man."
James 1:26 If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one's religion is useless. Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
James 3:5-10 Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.
Psa 34:13 Keep your tongue from evil, And your lips from speaking deceit.
Psa 50:19-20 You give your mouth to evil, And your tongue frames deceit. You sit and speak against your brother; You slander your own mother's son.
Psa 52:4 You love all devouring words, You deceitful tongue.
Prov 12:18-19 There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword, But the tongue of the wise promotes health. The truthful lip shall be established forever, But a lying tongue is but for a moment.
Prov 15:4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, But perverseness in it breaks the spirit.
Prov 21:23 Whoever guards his mouth and tongue Keeps his soul from troubles.
1 John 4:7-8 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
Rom 13:10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
